Walk to Reconnect: Imbolc

Saturday 1 February 2025

10:30 to 14:00

Staveley, Lake District

Vanessa Bear is the author of the Wild and Wellbeing Card Deck which offers creative, embodied, and mindful ways to reconnect with nature.

The walk will be a saunter through some beautiful landscapes, with invitations for mindful movement practices as we journey through woodland, fields, along rivers and the low fell around Staveley. We will take regular pauses for varied practices to take time to connect with nature around you and within you. These will be varied invitations to nourish the different parts of you, and will include creativity, making, playfulness, peacefulness, and mindfulness. The practices shared will be ones you can take with you to continue this self-care and connection.

I'm limiting the group size to ensure that we have time and space for peacefulness as well as for connection.

We shall move with steady ease, taking our time to notice our surroundings and stopping often for connection activities.

Unfortunately, many routes in the area do have stiles. However, please let me know if you require the walk to avoid stiles so I can plan the route to be as inclusive as possible.

After booking, you will be sent a list of recommended things to bring and wear. You are also encouraged to bring a hot drink and snacks.

Please note: While one portion of Nes’ work involves psychotherapy, these walks are not group therapy. They aim to offer time to retreat from busy lives to develop a deeper connection with nature, your own body, and practices to increase a sense of belonging, rejuvenation, and rest.

These walks will be held at four points of the year: Lammas, Samhain, Imbolc and Beltain.

Imbolc, Saturday 1st February;

Beltane, Saturday 3rd May;

Lammas, Saturday 2nd Aug;

Samhain, Saturday 1st Nov 2025

Price: £30 per session.

Terms & Conditions

Please note, the walk may not go ahead if the numbers are low, or in very bad weather such as high winds. We will try to give you as much notice as possible of this, but we recommend getting insurance to cover accommodation and travel expenses in case this happens.

We usually only cancel if the winds are above 25mph or there is a combination of extreme cold and high wind or very heavy or freezing rain. In these weather conditions, the activities, such as nature connection can be difficult. Additionally, in high winds the woodlands we use close the area for safety. Please check your emails in the morning before you leave in case of this.

If a session is cancelled due to adverse weather we shall offer you a full refund or credit of the full amount paid to use at a rescheduled or future event. We cannot, however, compensate you for travel or other costs incurred.

If the event goes ahead in adverse weather (e.g. rain or snow), we don’t offer a refund; we feel that lots of cosy waterproof layers and, where possible a campfire, should keep us cosy and happy.

If not enough people are booked on to the course, you will be offered to choose a rescheduled date or a full refund.

We reserve the right to cancel in the event of facilitator’s ill health or not enough participants to run the event. If we do need to cancel for these reasons we will refund to you all deposits and payments you have paid us. We cannot, however, compensate you for travel or other costs incurred. We strongly advise taking out insurance in case of this.

In the event of a cancellation, we shall contact you by email or text as soon as possible before the event.

Timing

While Nes will endeavor to keep within the advertised times, the session may end before the stated time. The timing is approximate and is dependent on the weather and wellbeing of the group, the walking speed of the group, and the length of time of the practices. An early finish for these reasons will not affect the cost of the event.

Refund Policy

4+ weeks before the workshop you will be offered a full refund or a change of date.

1-4 weeks before the workshop you will be offered a 50% refund or a change of date.

Within 7 days of the workshop, unfortunately, we are unable to offer a refund or change of date. In this case, we suggest you give your place to a colleague or friend. This is because it can be very difficult and time consuming to fill the place in that time. Please email to arrange a name change for a ticket and so that we can get the health details of the new attendee.

Safeguarding

We have policies and procedures related to safeguarding for both clients and staff, which we can provide for you to read on request. If you have any questions relating to safeguarding in relation to a child or vulnerable adult then please contact us. We provide confidentiality in relation to information shared with us by service-users, except in circumstances where disclosure makes it a legal obligation to share information with appropriate professionals.

Privacy

Emails provided for booking purposes will not be automatically added to our mailing list, you will need check the box on the consent form agreeing to subscribe to our list to receive regular news and updates.
